Student Expectations

Student safety and discipline are vital to our success as a school.  It is our goal to offer every child at Rudolfo Anaya Elementary School a safe learning environment, free from bullying and intimidation.

In addition, students of Rudolfo Anaya Elementary School will present themselves with pride, dignity and manners at all times. The following rules are in place in an effort to keep all students safe and impeccable manners are expected at all times:

  • Everyone on campus will treat one another with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Everyone will behave in a manner that is physically and emotionally safe.
  • Everyone will use playground equipment the appropriate way.
  • Everyone will respect school property and will be expected to take pride in their school by cleaning up after themselves and others and respecting the material items provided for us.
  • Toys and personal items may not be brought to school (cell phones must be kept in backpacks in the off position throughout the school day).
  • Adults and children at Rudolfo Anaya Elementary School are expected to use appropriate manners and present themselves with pride and at all times.

Classroom Behavior Management

Staff members are expected to enforce the school-wide discipline plan:

  • Individual Behavior Monitoring: every child should be on an individual behavior monitoring system.  Multiple infractions will result in a referral to the Health and Wellness team for intervention.
  • Whole class behavior monitoring:  every class has a classroom behavior plan in which the entire class earns points (marbles, puzzle pieces, tiles, etc) toward a common goal.  Teachers and students will establish the criteria for these incentives using a mission statement to build community and student generated rules to build ownership.  A similar system will be used during lunch time as a means of guiding student cafeteria behavior.
  • Parents, students and administration will be provided written copies of behavioral expectations and rules from the classroom teacher by the end of the first week of school.
